HealthTran
- Project Title: HealthTran
- Program Representative Interviewed: Mary Gordon
- Location: Jefferson City, Missouri
-
Program Overview: The HealthTran program serves those who do not have transportation
services for health and wellness appointments in designated regions throughout rural Missouri. Healthcare
providers refer patients to a HealthTran coordinator who links the patient to the most appropriate
transportation option available. Patients receiving supplementary transportation funding from Medicaid or
Veterans Services are not eligible to use HealthTran services for covered transportation.
The HealthTran program works with healthcare and behavioral health providers, therapists, pharmacies, food sites, and social service agencies (profit and nonprofit) who refer individuals and families who are unable to access care, for transportation assistance. Funding for transportation is generated through memberships, partnerships, and individuals. The HealthTran program has partnered with transit organizations and healthcare providers to deliver transportation services and reduce barriers to care.
