Telehealth Centers of Excellence
The Office for the Advancement of Telehealth within the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) funds the Telehealth Centers of Excellence. Telehealth Centers of Excellence are established, successful, and self-sustaining telehealth programs that serve as clearinghouses for telehealth resources. In 2017, HRSA designated the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) as Telehealth Centers of Excellence.
The Telehealth Centers of Excellence produce telehealth tools and resources that may benefit rural communities. For example, MUSC developed summary documents that describe the process of Defining and Deploying an Open-Access Telehealth Network in South Carolina and the Telehealth Service Implementation Model (T-SIMĀ©): A Framework for Telehealth Service Development, Implementation, and Sustainability.
