Dissemination Methods for Unintentional Injury Prevention Programs
After determining the intended audiences for dissemination, rural communities can use many different methods to convey the findings of their programs.
Some methods of dissemination for unintentional injury prevention programs include:
- Posting updates on websites and blogs
- Making social media posts during safety awareness days, such as the Rural Road Safety Awareness Week
- Developing policy briefs and white papers
- Hosting a table at a community event
- Creating a media campaign to spread awareness of injury prevention topics, which may include for example public service announcements
- Making statements to local newspapers or other outlets
- Presenting to a range of audiences, such as state or regional associations and community members
- Conducting outreach to community leaders, trusted messengers, and key potential partners, such as healthcare providers
- Developing journal articles or other contributions to the rural evidence base
- Creating one-pagers, infographics, posters, or other engaging products that can be distributed in multiple settings and online
- Presenting at local, regional, and national conferences, such as the Safe States Alliance National Conference or the Injury Free Coalition for Kids Annual Conference
- Presenting at rural focused conferences, such as the National Rural Health Association Annual Rural Health Conference, National Association of Rural Health Clinics, or National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health Annual Meeting
- Presenting findings to funders and policymakers
