Purpose

The Steven M. Thompson Physician Corps Loan Repayment Program offers loan repayment assistance for physicians and surgeons who agree to practice in a medically underserved area or other qualified facility in California for a service term of at least 3 years.

Eligibility

Eligible disciplines include:

  • Primary care practicing family medicine, general internal medicine, general pediatrics, or obstetrics/gynecology
  • Emergency medicine (outpatient only)
  • Gerontology
  • Psychiatry
  • Surgery

Amount of funding

Up to $105,000 with a 3 year service commitment.
