As the South Grows: On Fertile Soil
Examines the discrepancy between philanthropic efforts in the South and other regions of the U.S. and some of the health concerns they face. Provides examples of Southern nonprofit leaders and makes recommendations to help foundations and donors maximize the impact of their investments. Also explains why alternative methods for giving may be required in the South, where organizations and leaders don't always conform to traditional educational and organizational standards. Sexual Assault: Information on Training, Funding, and the Availability of Forensic Examiners
GAO survey of the 2013 grantees who used funding established by the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act to support the training of forensic examiners in the case of sexual assault. Rural areas are highlighted as particularly underserved due to limited availability of training, reluctance of hospitals to fund training of examiners, and low examiner retention rates overall.
