Funding for a Rural Telementoring Training Center that will train academic medical centers and other centers of excellence in the creation of technology-enabled telementoring learning programs. Programs should assist in the development of strategies focused on improving the retention of rural providers and enhancing health care outcomes for rural patients with complex conditions in order to improve health care in rural areas.

Teaching Health Center Planning and Development Program Inactive
Planning and development grants to establish new accredited or expanded community-based primary care residency programs in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine-pediatrics, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynecology, general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, and/or geriatrics. The program is designed to support the expansion of the primary care physician and dental workforce in rural and underserved communities.

Quality Improvement Fund - Maternal Health (QIF-MH) Inactive
Funding to improve maternal health and reduce racial and ethnic maternal health disparities by supporting health centers in developing and piloting innovative, patient-centered, scalable models of care delivery. Projects should address the clinical and health-related social needs of health center patients at highest risk of maternal morbidity and mortality. Priority populations are women of color and those in rural and underserved areas.

Rural Health Network Development Program Inactive
Grants for healthcare networks in rural areas to address gaps in service, enhance systems of care, and expand capacity of the local healthcare system. The purpose of this program is to support rural integrated healthcare networks that have combined the functions of the entities participating in the network in order to achieve efficiencies; expand access to, coordinate, and improve the quality of essential healthcare services; and strengthen the rural healthcare system as a whole.

Primary Care Training and Enhancement - Residency Training in Mental and Behavioral Health (PCTE-RTMB) Inactive
Grants to train primary care residents in mental and behavioral health for pediatric, adolescent, young adult, and other populations who are at-risk or have experienced abuse, trauma, or mental health and/or substance use disorders, including those related to the effects of gun violence. Priority will be given to proposals to train residents in rural areas, including for tribes or tribal organizations in rural areas.

Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program (SHIP) Inactive
Provides funding to small rural hospitals, through their State Office of Rural Health, to help them do any or all of the following: purchase equipment or training to attain value-based payment and care goals; join Medicare Shared Savings Program or become an accountable care organization; and purchase health information technology, equipment, or training.

Funding to support the career development of junior faculty in geriatrics as academic geriatricians or academic geriatrics specialists. The overall goals of the program are to develop the necessary skills to lead healthcare transformation in a variety of settings, including rural and/or medically underserved settings, to be age-friendly and to provide training in clinical geriatrics, including the training of interprofessional teams of healthcare professionals to provide healthcare for older adults.
