The Elmina B. Sewall Foundation offers funding for partnerships that are working to create a thriving, healthy, and resilient rural Maine where communities envision and guide their future.
Priority work supported in the past includes:
- Affordable housing
- Broadband expansion
- Climate change planning and adaptation
- Community development
- Economic development
- Food systems
- Human health and social service systems change initiatives
- Natural resource-based economic opportunities
- Regional visioning or planning initiatives
- Two-generation (2Gen) approaches
- Wabanaki partnerships (land back, habitat restoration, economic development)
- Workforce development and training
Eligible applicants are nonprofit organizations and programs in Maine. Organizations without 501(c)(3) status will need a fiscal agent with 501(c)(3) status.
Award ceiling: $60,000 for individual
organizations and $200,000 for collaborations involving
multiple organizations
Award floor: $10,000
Project period: 1-2 years
Estimated number of awards: 13
Estimated total program funding:
$2,885,000
