Purpose

The Maine Office of Rural Health and Primary Care offers loan repayment assistance for behavioral healthcare clinicians providing clinical services in Health Professional Shortage Areas of Maine.

Recipients must agree to provide at least 2 years of service.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are master's and doctoral level clinicians providing behavioral health services in a safety-net facility located within a Mental Health Professional Shortage Area of the state.

Disciplines:

  • Allopathic and osteopathic doctors with a specialty of psychiatry
  • Nurse practitioners and physician assistants with specialties in psychiatry and mental health
  • Psychiatric nurse specialists
  • Psychologists (clinical and counseling)
  • Licensed clinical social workers
  • Licensed clinical professional counselors
  • Marriage and family therapists
  • Alcohol and substance abuse counselors
