Purpose

Maine Health Access Foundation (MeHAF) is offering unrestricted operating and technical assistance support for organizations in Maine that work with communities facing health disparities based on factors such as race; ethnicity; language; sexual orientation; gender identity; disability status; and experience with criminal justice, sexual violence, and homelessness. Rural applicants have been awarded in past application rounds.

Program goals:

  • Provide a foundation for MeHAF and grantees to collectively work toward building a movement for health equity in Maine
  • Forge new transformative, healing relationships, both between funder and grantee and across communities
  • Develop a system and structure that enables grantees to examine and strengthen their internal systems, skills, resources, networks, and audience so that they each have what they need to pursue their missions and build long-term, sustainable power
  • Spread equitable practices to other funders, the state, and mainstream organizations
Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • Led by and serving communities that are systematically excluded from resources, including black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC); people with disabilities; LGBTQ+ people; and people experiencing homelessness
  • Working to advance health equity for their communities
