Michigan Rural Development Fund Grant
The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is offering grant funding to promote expansion and sustainability of land-based industries; worker training related to land-based industries; and energy, livestock processing, transportation, housing, communications, broadband, water and wastewater infrastructure to benefit rural communities and Micropolitan Statistical Areas in Michigan.
Priorities include:
- Infrastructure development including roadways, bridges, renewable energy, wastewater, rural housing, broadband, and more
- Rural capacity building including museums, local and regional tourism campaigns, technical assistance programs, shared service models, feasibility studies, and more
- Business development including business expansion ensuring long-term creation or retention of job with a strong local and/or regional impact
- Talent development and training including local and regional workforce development programs, workforce training, rural housing projects, childcare, and more
Eligible applicants include:
- Individuals
- Organizations
- Businesses
- Local units of government
- Federally recognized tribes
- Educational institutions
Projects must be located in counties with 70,000 people or less or Micropolitan Statistical Areas. See the application guidelines for a list of eligible counties.
Up to $100,000. Applicants must provide a minimum 30% match.
