Purpose

The Oregon Health Authority is offering funding for education, training programs, and other health-related workforce programs in Oregon for students' post-secondary education, to apply for grant funds to administer a scholarship program that will meet Oregon healthcare workforce objectives. Awardees will administer a scholarship program to support students pursuing physical, oral, and behavioral/mental health careers.

  • Operationalize a scholarship program aimed at increasing the diversity and representation of marginalized populations in the healthcare workforce
  • Develop a mechanism to receive applications from students/trainees and utilize OHA approved tools to determine award priorities
  • Be responsible for the management, equitable distribution of awards and tracking of trainees who are awarded scholarships
  • Provide oversight to students/trainees as they complete their training and either seek employment in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) or otherwise identified area of need in Oregon or continue to another institution of higher education. Work with the Oregon Office of Rural Health for trainee support in obtaining employment.

Recipients should prioritize scholarships to students who are committed to increasing access to healthcare services, students/trainees that are peer- and community-driven and that showcase culturally specific and responsive services for marginalized populations.
