Purpose

USDA Rural Development awards grants to nonprofit organizations to provide technical assistance to applicants for Farm Labor Housing (FLH) loans and grants. These loans and grants are used to increase the availability of affordable, decent housing for farm laborers by developing, repairing, and preserving domestic and migrant FLH projects.

Eligible uses of funds include:

  • Technical assistance during the application, underwriting, and closing processes
  • Assistance with transaction costs associated with the application process, and for other agency approved consultation, advisory and non-construction services
Eligibility

Eligible grantees include public and private nonprofit organizations.

Award ceiling: $250,000
Award floor: $50,000
Project period: 24 months with an extension up to an additional 12 months at the Agency's discretion

Application process

To initiate the application process, the applicant must send an email message by 12:00 p.m. Eastern on November 13, 2024 to the RHS Production and Preservation Division at RD.FLHTA@usda.gov. Completed applications must be submitted by 12:00 p.m. Eastern on November 18, 2024.
