The Sherwood Foundation offers funding for nonprofit organizations in Nebraska working to make Nebraska a more equitable place to live, work, learn, and play. Past awards have been made across the state, including in rural areas.
Funding may be used for programs, operations, and capital purchases.
Focus areas include, but are not limited to:

- Capacity building
- Behavioral and physical health access
- Community building
- Child well-being
- Economic empowerment
- Food security
- Freedom from violence
- Housing
- Refugee and immigrant services
- Safety
- Trails and connectivity

Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that serve Nebraska.
Award amounts are not stated. The majority of past awards have ranged from $10,000 - $500,000.
