The iCARE program offers funding to support practices and providers in South Carolina offering primary and specialty care to rural communities through onsite or virtual services. The program will fund the establishment or expansion of clinical services, mental and behavioral health services, children's health, OB/GYN or prenatal care services, and chronic disease to improve rural health. Applicants should demonstrate a long-term commitment to the community and building a largely sustainable clinical enterprise as part of the proposal.
Eligible costs include:
- Staff salary and fringe
- Medical equipment and supplies
- Capital equipment
- Health promotion and education materials
- Advertising and outreach related to services
Applicants must serve predominantly rural populations in South Carolina.
Eligible applicants:
- Any public institution of higher education in South Carolina
- SC AccessHealth Networks
- Public or 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with an emphasis on rural health
- Direct providers of healthcare services, such as rural hospitals, Rural Health Clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers, and health systems
- State government agencies
Award ceiling: $250,000 per year
Project period: Up to 3 years
