The White House Rural Innovators Initiative is an honorary awards program designed to highlight stories of rural leaders who are making a positive impact in their communities.
The program will uplift stories of extraordinary rural leaders who are taking action and ensuring their communities thrive for generations to come. Rural investment areas may include, but are not limited to:
- Infrastructure
- Clean, reliable water
- Lowering energy costs and strengthening the grid
- Access to healthcare and lowering healthcare costs
- Supporting veterans
- Agricultural markets
- Climate smart agriculture
- Strengthening food systems
- Nutrition and food access
- Expanding access to affordable housing
- Workforce development
- Access to higher education and career pathways
- Access to affordable child care
- Economic development and job creation
Nominations of individuals of all ages, including youth leaders, are welcome. Nominated individuals could be engaged in either the public and private sectors, including local, state, tribal and territory governments; nonprofits; businesses; philanthropy; and academia.
Awards are honorary.
