The American Lung Association will provide training and resources to rural and tribal schools in Montana for activities designed to reduce childhood exposures to environmental contaminants and increase the number of schools establishing lung-friendly policies and practices.
Participating schools will receive specialized support that covers program facilitator training costs, implementation packages, curriculum adaptation, customized materials, technical assistance, and program evaluation.
Programs available to schools through this opportunity include:
- Asthma Programs to promote asthma-friendly environments and help educate students, parents and teachers on asthma management
- Commercial Tobacco and Vaping Intervention and Cessation Programs to help schools respond effectively to tobacco and vaping violations and help students quit commercial tobacco use and vaping
- Other Resources on topics such as radon, clean air, asthma, commercial tobacco, wildfires, COVID-19, RSV, and influenza.
Eligible participants include schools and communities in Montana interested in programs and resources to protect the lung health of students, as well as individuals willing to serve as partners to guide the project.
All trainings and resources are offered at no cost before April 30, 2024. Certain programs may be available for a fee after April 30.
