Purpose

The Sewell Fund Learning Partnership program provides funding for a 1-year fellowship that places a medical or health sciences librarian or information scientist with a host organization that is involved in health sciences service delivery, research, or product development.

Fellows will work to integrate their information management techniques and librarian capabilities into the host organizations work setting to help increase the quality of research or healthcare services.

The fellowship may take place in an in-person or remote work setting. Past learning partnerships have been conducted with rural organizations.

Eligibility

Eligible host organizations must:

  • Be a nonprofit, public agency, or private sector company involved in health sciences service delivery, research or product development
  • Have a project and a team of employees responsible for outcomes that would benefit from the wide range of skills of an experienced mid-career health sciences librarian or information scientist
  • Have an environment that will allow the fellow to be immersed in the organization's work, learn from the organization's leaders about health sciences issues of importance, and allow the fellow to contribute in a substantive way to the success of the organization

Organizations that do not currently have a library or librarian(s) are especially encouraged to apply.
