San Manuel Cares Grants provide funding for tribal governments and tribal nonprofit organizations in the areas of:
- Education:
- Science, technology, engineering, and math
- After school programming
- College and career readiness
- Arts and music
- Community services/empowerment:
- Basic needs
- Housing
- Quality of life for senior citizens
- Legal aid
- Workforce development and training
- Healthy and resilient communities:
- Direct services, education, prevention, and disease management
- Mental and behavioral health
- Support for victims of domestic violence, foster youth, and abused and neglected children
- Physical activity and nutrition
- Disaster response
- Emergency services and public safety
- Health and well-being of veterans, active-duty service members, and military families
- Preserving cultural traditions:
- Traditional language
- Cultural education through storytelling, traditional art, and documentaries
- Cultural gatherings, heritage celebrations, cultural centers, and tribal museums
- Programs addressing missing and murdered Indigenous persons
- Repatriation work that includes maintaining artifacts
Eligible applicants are tribal governments and tribal nonprofit organizations throughout the United States.
