Purpose

San Manuel Cares Grants provide funding for tribal governments and tribal nonprofit organizations in the areas of:

  • Education:
    • Science, technology, engineering, and math
    • After school programming
    • College and career readiness
    • Arts and music
  • Community services/empowerment:
    • Basic needs
    • Housing
    • Quality of life for senior citizens
    • Legal aid
    • Workforce development and training
  • Healthy and resilient communities:
    • Direct services, education, prevention, and disease management
    • Mental and behavioral health
    • Support for victims of domestic violence, foster youth, and abused and neglected children
    • Physical activity and nutrition
    • Disaster response
    • Emergency services and public safety
    • Health and well-being of veterans, active-duty service members, and military families
  • Preserving cultural traditions:
    • Traditional language
    • Cultural education through storytelling, traditional art, and documentaries
    • Cultural gatherings, heritage celebrations, cultural centers, and tribal museums
    • Programs addressing missing and murdered Indigenous persons
    • Repatriation work that includes maintaining artifacts
