Purpose

This program provides funding for clinical effectiveness research projects focused on clinical or community interventions and care delivery strategies that will address important evidence gaps and reduce maternal morbidity and mortality during pregnancy and the postpartum period.

Special areas of emphasis include projects focused on:

  • Optimal prevention, diagnosis, and treatment options for high-risk pregnant populations
  • Populations experiencing disparities in maternal outcomes, including including Black, Indigenous American, Hispanic, rural, and low socioeconomic status populations.
  • Observational studies examining variations in healthcare practices, interventions, and strategies that are a result of different policies or initiatives
Eligibility

Eligible applicants include academic research, private sector research, or study-conducting entities. This may include agencies and instrumentalities of the federal government, nonprofit/for-profit research organizations, and colleges/universities, among others.

Applicants must submit a letter of intent through the online system by February 6, 2024. Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application, with a deadline of May 7, 2024.
