Intervention Research to Improve Native American Health (R01, R21, and R34 Clinical Trials Optional)
This opportunity will provide funding to support research designed to improve health in Native American populations. Proposed research may address health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, recovery, or services research to inform intervention implementation and dissemination, and it must engage tribal partners and communities.
For the purposes of this opportunity, Native American is defined as American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians.

- R01 Research Project Grant that supports a discrete project to be performed by an investigator in an area representing the investigator's specific interest and competencies
- R21 Exploratory/Developmental Research Grant that provides support for the early and conceptual stages of project development.
- R34 Planning Grant to support the initial development of a research project, including the establishment of the research team; the development of tools for data management and oversight of the research.

R01 project budgets are not limited but need to reflect the actual needs of the proposed project. The maximum project period is 5 years.
R21 project budgets are limited to $200,000 in a single year and no more than $275,000 over the 2 year project period.
R34 Planning Grants may be up to $450,000 over a 3-year project period.
