California Outdoor Equity Grants Program

The California Outdoor Equity Grants Program will provide funding to improve the health and wellness of Californians through new educational and recreational activities, service learning, career pathways, and leadership opportunities that strengthen a connection to the natural world. The intent is to increase the ability of residents in underserved rural and urban communities to participate in outdoor experiences within their community, at state parks, and other public lands.
Funds may be used for transportation, logistics, program operations, and capacity costs associated with reaching historically underserved communities.
Eligible applicants include local, state, and federal public agencies and nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status. Examples include, but are not limited to, school districts, cities, counties, joint powers authorities, open-space authorities, regional open-space districts, and federal/state recognized tribes.
Award ceiling: $700,000
Award floor: $20,000
Project period: Up to 3 years
