The CAPES Academy provides training and ongoing support for registered nurses and advanced practice registered nurses transitioning into the role of clinical faculty or preceptors serving medically underserved areas within the Southeast.
Program participants will receive stipends and travel support to participate in the academy's online training modules, a week-long training intensive at Emory School of Nursing, and a shadowing experience at CAPES Academy's clinical partners' sites.
Eligible applicants are registered nurses (RN) and advanced practice registered nurses (APRN) from the Southeast region.
The program is provided at no cost for selected participants. Stipends ($6,000) are designed to compensate for the time and effort trainees put into the academy's required activities, including travel to and from Atlanta, a week away from work, and accommodations.
In addition to the educational program, participants will receive ongoing professional development, monthly engagement activities, and membership in professional nursing organizations.
There will be 32 participants selected each year (4 from the each of the states in the region).
A link to the online application is available on the program website.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with cohorts beginning each fall. Applicants can expect to have an admission decision in September each year.
