Purpose

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will provide scholarships for specific behavioral/mental health professional students. Recipients agree to a 6 year service obligation at a Vet Center Readjustment Counseling Service site.

Applicants from rural, tribal, and other underserved communities are encouraged.

Eligibility

Applicants must be currently enrolled or be accepted for full-time enrollment in an accredited academic program that will qualify for employment in one of the professional fields associated with the scholarship program.

Eligible fields include:

  • Social Worker (MSW)
  • Psychologist (PhD)
  • Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselors (LPMHC)
  • Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT)

Scholarship recipients will receive:

  • 100% of tuition and required fees
  • $1,302 per month stipend
  • A stipend to help cover books and supplies
