The Rural Building Ownership & Organization by Strengthening Teams (BOOST) Program provides funding and technical assistance to rural Iowa communities to support economic and business development efforts. Communities and businesses will work with a team of experts to create a customized action plan and receive grant awards to support initial steps toward implementation.
Eligible applicants located in Iowa include:
- Units of local or county governments
- Federally recognized tribal governments
- Federally tax-exempt nonprofit organizations
Eligible communities must have a population of less than 20,000 and not be contiguous to a city with a population greater than 40,000.
County-wide applications will be accepted if the county is one of the 88 least-populous counties in Iowa.
Rural BOOST participants receive:
- In-person meeting with the individualized Rural BOOST Team and local committee
- Follow-up in person or virtual meetings as needed
- Recommendations resource document from the Center for Rural Revitalization
- Grant award of $10,000
A minimum $5,000 cash match is required.
