Purpose

The Lumpkin Family Foundation provides funding to organizations in Eastern Illinois with long-term strategies to support healthy communities. Funding goals include:

  • Promote personal health through widespread availability and consumption of healthy, affordable food
  • Support mental wellness through individual and community engagement with the natural environment
  • Grow the local agricultural economy, sustaining and creating new viable farm and farm-related businesses
  • Develop, promote and scale innovative green practices that add productive value to farms while protecting the land for future generations
  • Encourage community engagement and collaboration, policy development and research around agriculture and rural development
Eligibility

501(c)(3) organizations working to benefit communities in the Lumpkin Foundation's service area in Eastern Central Illinois are eligible to apply.

Preference is given to rural organizations and organizations operating in Coles and surrounding counties.

Award amounts are not specified. Past awards have ranged from $5,000 to $60,000.

Submit the online letter of inquiry by August 2, 2024. Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal, with a deadline of September 6, 2024.
