The Health Services Scholarship Program (HSSP) provides scholarships for specific health professions students in Wisconsin who agree to work in a health shortage area after completion of their academic programs.
Eligibility requirements include:
- Wisconsin resident
- Currently in a dental, psychiatry, or medical school to become a dentist, primary care physician, or psychiatrist or are in a graduate program to become a physician assistant or a nurse practitioner
- In the second year of the academic program or higher
- Intend to practice in a health shortage area in Wisconsin
Dentists, primary care physicians, and psychiatrists may receive $30,000 for every academic year, up to 4 years.
Physician assistants and nurse practitioners may receive $25,000 for every academic year, up to 4 years.
Recipients must agree to practice in a health shortage area in Wisconsin for 18 months for each annual scholarship accepted.
