The Iowa Department of Public Health will provide continuation funding to recipients of a Psychiatry Training Program for Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners award in fiscal year 2024. The program supports the psychiatric training of additional physician assistants (PA) and nurse practitioners (NP) who will provide mental health services in rural, underserved areas of Iowa.
Awardees are required to:
- Identify and implement measures to enhance current recruitment tools and resources to increase interest in a PA psychiatry fellowship program and/or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program
- Implement a recruitment plan utilizing identified enhanced recruitment measures for PA psychiatry fellows and PMHNP students
- Increase annually the admission of PA psychiatry fellows and/or PMHNP students
Eligible applicants for continuation funding are limited to current contractors, which include:
- University of Iowa
- Allen College
Applicants may apply for up to the same amount awarded in their respective fiscal year 2024 contracts for the total contract period.
