The Men's Health Network offers awards for students and early career researchers who focus on the physical and mental health of American Indian and Alaska Native boys and men and the need to address disparities that hinder their ability to fulfill roles as fathers, husbands, providers, leaders, and contributors to their communities.
Two awards are given each year:
- The Eric D. Bothwell Award in American Indian and Alaska Native Men's Health recognizes and encourages continued study and development of an early career researcher in the field of American Indian and Alaska native men's health.
- The Eric D. Bothwell Student Award in American Indian and Alaska Native Men's Health will encourage individuals to begin a career that focuses on the field of American Indian and Alaska native men's health.
Awards are presented annually at the American Public Health Association meeting by the Men's Health Network.
Eligible nominees are current early career researchers and students working in the field of American Indian and Alaskan native men's health.
Researcher award:
- $200 cash
- A plaque to be presented at the awards ceremony
- Reimbursement of hotel (up to $600) and transportation (up to $400) to the annual meeting
Student award:
- Approval to present a poster at the APHA annual meeting
- One-year membership in APHA (Men's Health Caucus) to coincide with the year the award is made
- Registration fee to the APHA annual meeting at which the award will be presented
- A plaque to be presented at the awards ceremony
- Reimbursement of hotel (up to $600) and transportation (up to $400) to the annual meeting
