Purpose

The Native American Library Services Basic Grant provides funding to improve core library services in Native American communities. This program aims to improve services for learning and accessing information in a variety of formats.

Objectives include:

  • Support the acquisition of library-related materials, supplies, equipment, furnishings, services, and fees for participation in networks and consortia that provide the library with direct services
  • Support programming for identified community priorities including education, workforce development, economic and business development, health information, critical thinking skills, digital literacy skills, financial literacy, and other types of literacy skills
  • Support training for library staff
  • Support project activities that include aspects of two or more of the objectives listed
Eligibility

Eligible applicants are federally recognized tribes.
