The Colorado Broadband Office provides grants to deploy broadband service in unserved areas of Colorado.
Award criteria include:
- Strong connections to larger broadband plans
- Cost-effectiveness
- Demonstrated benefit to area economic development, education, telehealth, libraries, and public safety
- Service speeds provided above the minimum of 25 Mbps downstream and 3 Mbps upstream
Eligible applicants are for-profit entities, as well as nonprofit telephone cooperatives or nonprofit rural electric associations that existed on May 10, 2014. Minimum eligibility requirements include:
- Community lies outside municipal boundaries or has a population of less than 7,500
- Project is new, not already in progress
- Funds will be used for infrastructure, not operations
Up to 75% of infrastructure project costs.
