Purpose

The Massachusetts Food Ventures Program (MFVP) provides funding for projects that increase access to healthy, affordable food options; source Massachusetts grown, caught, or harvested healthy food; and that improve economic opportunities for low to moderate income communities, including Gateway Cities and rural communities.

Examples of potential projects include:

  • Food processing infrastructure
  • Non retail food commissaries
  • Food co-ops
  • Greenhouses and farmers markets
  • Food hubs
  • Commercial markets
  • Mobile/innovative markets
Eligibility

Eligible applicants in Massachusetts include:

  • Municipalities
  • Nonprofit organizations
  • For-profit organizations
  • Individual residents
Geographic coverage
Massachusetts
Amount of funding

Award ceiling: $150,000
Award floor: $25,000

A 50% match is required in the form of cash or a guaranteed loan.
