Purpose

Assistance for eligible tribal transit system employees that would like to attend a National Rural Transit Assistance Program (RTAP) sponsored training, professional development program, or educational conference. The program's goal is to encourage the development of the skills and abilities of individuals working for Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funded agencies.

Eligibility

All transit agencies who are recipients of 5311(c) Tribal Transit Program FTA grants are eligible to apply. A maximum of 2 staff members from eligible agencies may attend any approved National RTAP sponsored conference or training event.

Amount of funding

Scholarships will cover the following costs, up to $750 per person:

  • Registration fees
  • Travel
  • Meals
  • Hotel accommodations

Accommodations and mileage are not reimbursed if the transit system is located 35 miles or less from the site of the event.
