Purpose

Pre-Health Career Corps is a program of Hawaii/Pacific Basin Area health Education Center that offers a free year-round program for high school and college students in Hawaii who are interested in pursuing careers in health.

Activities include:

  • Healthcare shadowing
  • Health workshops
  • Campus tours
  • Test preparation
  • Peer mentorship
  • Career mentorship
  • Research and volunteer experiences
  • Career navigation resources
  • Teen health camp

The mission of the Hawaii/Pacific Basin AHEC is to improve the health of the underserved through education. A primary focus is the education and recruitment of students and professionals to meet healthcare needs in rural and underserved areas of Hawaii.

Eligibility

Eligible participants are high school and college students who live in Hawaii or have ties to Hawaii. Hawaiians attending college on the mainland, non-traditional students, and post-baccalaureates who are planning to attend additional schooling are also eligible.
