The Indian Highway Safety Occupant Protection Grant provides funding to federally recognized tribes for implementing traffic safety programs and projects designed to reduce the number of traffic crashes, deaths, injuries, and property damage.
The 2024 funding round is focused on Child Passenger Safety Seat Grants.
Funds may be used for:
- Purchasing car seats and supplies
- Distribution of car seats
- Car seat inspections
- Checkpoints
- Roadside clinics
- Trainings
- Community events
- Distribution of educational materials
Federally recognized tribal governments are eligible to apply.
Funding amount is not specified. Budgets must support the project being proposed.
