Purpose

The Indian Highway Safety Occupant Protection Grant provides funding to federally recognized tribes for implementing traffic safety programs and projects designed to reduce the number of traffic crashes, deaths, injuries, and property damage.

Tribes can apply for Child Passenger Safety Seat Program (child seat distribution) funding through this opportunity.

All applications must contain measurable targets and performance measures and be justified by data.

Federally recognized tribal governments are eligible to apply.

Funding amount is not specified. Budgets must support the project being proposed. The program intends to make 10 awards.
