Purpose

Jeanne M. Priester Cooperative Extension Health Awards recognize successful and innovative health and wellness cooperative extension programs at county, state, and national levels.

Nominations are accepted in 6 award categories.

  1. Individual or family: Programs designed to meet the needs of individuals and/or families
  2. Community: Programs to address contextual influences on the health of a community or group, such as social determinants of health,; policy, systems, or environment change; or building the vital conditions for health and well-being
  3. Innovative: Programs that feature new technologies, methods, or approaches to achieve results or work in a health area that is new to Cooperative Extension
  4. Health equity: Efforts to improve the health and well-being of communities or groups who have systematically and unfairly faced significant barriers to living long and healthy lives
  5. Leadership: An individual who has provided exemplary, impactful, or transformational leadership within their community, institution, state, region, or nation and advanced Cooperative Extension health-focused work
  6. Culture of health: A sustainable coalition or collaborative to which Cooperative Extension provides significant leadership or support focused on advancing the overall health of a community or group
Eligibility

Leadership Award nominees must be a Cooperative Extension employee at the time of nomination. Nominations for other awards that involve a team or community coalition must include at least one Cooperative Extension employee as a member of the nominated team or coalition.

Awards will be presented at the 2024 National Health Outreach Conference in Greenville, South Carolina in May.
