The Primary Care Residency Expansion Grant Program provides grants to expand the training of primary care physicians in Minnesota. Eligible projects must establish a new primary care residency program, or for existing residency programs, create and maintain at least one new primary care residency position.
Eligible residency programs will train medical residents in the specialties of:
- Family medicine
- General internal medicine
- General pediatrics
- Psychiatry
- General surgery
- Geriatrics
Applicants that propose to use grant funds to address health equity will receive special consideration, and priority will be given to programs that include rural training.
Eligible applicants are accredited programs, sponsors, and potential sponsors of primary care residency positions located in Minnesota.
Award maximum: $400,000
Award minimum: $75,000
Project period: 3 years
Estimated number of awards: 4-6
Total funding available: $1,900,000
Eligible primary care residency programs may receive up to $75,000 to plan program expansion.
