New Mexico Rural Health Care Practitioner Tax Credit
The New Mexico Rural Health Care Practitioner Tax Credit program offers a tax credit to certain healthcare professionals who provide care in rural, underserved areas of New Mexico.
Use the full facility address in the Am I Rural? Tool to determine rural eligibility. To qualify, the facility must meet at least one rural definition under the Program Eligibility section and be in at least one medically underserved area under the Medically Underserved Areas/Populations section.
Eligible professions include:
- Physicians (MD and DO)
- Physician Assistant
- Nurse Practitioner
- Clinical Nurse Specialist
- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
- Certified Nurse Midwives
- Dentists (DMD, DDS)
- Dental Hygienist
- Clinical Psychologist
- Optometrist
- Podiatrist
$5,000 credit for doctors, osteopathic physicians, dentists, clinical psychologists, podiatrists, and optometrists.
$3,000 credit for licensed dental hygienists, physician assistants, certified nurse midwives, certified registered nurse anesthetists, certified nurse practitioners, and clinical nurse specialists.
