Purpose

Supports outreach strategies to increase the enrollment and retention of eligible American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) children, parents, and pregnant individuals in Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), emphasizing activities tailored to communities where AI/AN children and families reside and enlisting the support of community leaders and programs that serve eligible children and families.

Outreach activities to consider are described in Appendix VII of the application instructions.
Eligibility

Eligible entities include:

  • Indian Health Service Providers
  • Tribes, tribal consortia, and tribal organizations operating a health program under the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act
  • Urban Indian organizations operating a health program under the Indian Health Care Improvement Act
