Purpose

Tennessee Rural Residency Incentive Program offers a stipend to primary care physicians studying in Tennessee residency programs or physicians with Tennessee affiliations who are in out-of-state primary care residency programs. Recipients must agree to practice in a rural/underserved area of Tennessee.

Recipients must agree to practice in a rural/underserved area of Tennessee for one year per year of stipend accepted.

Eligibility

Physicians training in Tennessee residency programs or physicians training in other states that have a Tennessee affiliation or other circumstances that connect them with a Tennessee practice site.

Amount of funding

$105,000 to primary care residents in a 3-year residency and $140,000 to those in a 4-year residency program in exchange for an equal length commitment to serve in a rural area or with an underserved population in Tennessee.

Application process

Applications may be submitted at any time by residents not in their final year. Applications must be submitted by June 1 by residents in their final year.
