BNSF Railway Foundation Grants
The BNSF Railway Foundation offers grants to organizations that operate near a BNSF railway. Priority giving areas include:
- Health and Human Service Organizations, including:
- Programs that address chemical dependency treatment and prevention
- Spouse and child abuse programs
- Women's and children's aid
- Transitional shelters
- Hospitals
- Medical programs
- Federally recognized tribal governments
- Youth Organizations
- Civic Services, including:
- Parks and recreation
- Crime prevention programs
- Diversity programs
- Community development
- Educational Institutions
- Cultural organizations that offer access to performing, visual, and fine arts, museums and other related activities to underserved children
Strong preference is given to projects addressing one of the following areas of interest.
- Health and human services
- Environmental, sustainability, or conservation projects
- Cultural and historic preservation
Applications are accepted from:
- 501(c)(3) organizations
- Divisions of local government
- Schools or universities
- Federally recognized tribes
Organizations or programs should exist in or serve a community near one of BNSF's rail lines. Priority will be given to organization that have an established relationship with BNSF Railway Foundation.
Proposals are significantly more likely to receive funding if the organization or project meets one of the following criteria:
- Has significant BNSF employee participation
- Provides services or is located in close proximity to a BNSF main line or BNSF is the only major corporation in that area of the state
- Relates directly to the railroad industry
- Funds direct programming or project support
No award ceiling is given.
