The Kansas Nursing Service Scholarship awards funds to students pursuing registered nursing or licensed practical nursing degrees who agree to serve at a medical facility in Kansas upon graduation. While any location in Kansas is eligible, a large portion of scholarship recipients choose to go to rural or underserved areas.
Scholarship recipients must work at an eligible facility for one year per year of scholarship awarded.
Kansas residents pursuing education in a qualified program at a Kansas college or university are eligible to apply.
An eligible sponsor is any adult care home, psychiatric hospital, mental health or treatment facility, medical care facility, home health agency, local health department, or any state agency licensed by the State of Kansas that employs LPNs or RNs.
Students are responsible for finding an eligible sponsor facility that agrees to provide the matching funds.
LPN students are eligible for $3,500 each school year.
RN students are eligible for $4,500 each school year.
Sponsors pay from $1,000 to one-half of the scholarship, and the State of Kansas pays the remaining amount.
