Purpose

The Iowa Health Professional Recruitment Program (HPRP) offers loan repayment assistance for graduates of Iowa college or university programs in the following health professions: physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, podiatrists, registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and athletic trainers.

Applicants must agree to a full-time, up to 4-year practice commitment in Iowa, in a high-need community, defined as any city with a population less than 26,000 located more than 20 miles from a city with a population of at least 50,000.

Eligibility

Applicants must be graduates from an eligible Iowa college or university and be employed as a physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, podiatrist, registered nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist, or athletic trainer in a high-need community in Iowa.

Amount of funding

Applicants are eligible for up to $100,000 in loan repayment. The state will match up to $50,000 of the funds committed by the employer/hospital.
