The Jim Bernstein Community Health Leadership Fellows Program offers a fellowship opportunity for a wide variety of mid-career healthcare professionals in North Carolina.
Fellowships are awarded for a 2-year period and are comprised of an educational component, an individualized project, and an ongoing relationship with a mentor centered on the core elements of:
- Building leadership capabilities
- Understanding key elements of the health sector in North Carolina
- Recognizing strengths and challenges of rural communities
- Collaborating effectively with local and state partners
Applicants must work in a clinical or administrative capacity in a rural and/or other underserved community in North Carolina or with an organization that targets rural/underserved communities. Applicants must demonstrate leadership potential and a strong commitment to underserved populations, remaining in North Carolina, cultural sensitivity, and community-driven care.
Stipend support is available to cover to develop an individual project and cover travel and registration costs for required educational sessions. The Fellow's employer is expected to provide salary support.
