The Community Match Rural Physician Recruitment Program offers financial assistance to physicians who agree to practice primary care for a period of 4 years in rural, medically underserved areas of Arkansas.
Physicians must either be in their residency or no more than 2 years out of residency. Physicians apply jointly with a rural community in Arkansas that agrees to provide the matching funds.
Eligible primary care physicians include:
- Family medicine
- General internal medicine
- General pediatrics and general internal pediatrics
- General OB/GYN
- General surgery
- Emergency medicine
- Geriatrics
The maximum amount a participant receives is $80,000 over the 4-year service period. The community provides $10,000 per year and the state provides $10,000 per year.
