Evaluation Objectives
Substance use disorder (SUD) programs may include both process and outcome objectives. Programs should use process and outcome objectives to help focus evaluation activities.
Examples of Process Objectives
- Provide 100 patients with case management services in Year 1
- Distribute naloxone and provide related training to 85% of police officers and emergency medical services staff in the community in Year 2
Examples of Outcome Objectives
- Reduce substance use-related mortality by 5% in Year 2
- Reduce overdose rates by 7% in Year 1
- Reduce the proportion of individuals who report driving under the influence of alcohol or other substances in the past 30 days by 10% in Year 1
- Reduce the proportion of individuals who report using opioids for non-medical purposes by 10% in Year 2
