Persistent Poverty Dynamics: Understanding Poverty Trends Over 50 Years
Reports on high-poverty counties, with a poverty rate of 20% or more, based on data from the 2007-2011 American Community Survey, compared to 1970, 1980, 1990, and 2000 Census data. Residential Mobility Across Local Areas in the United States and the Geographic Distribution of the Healthy Population
Examines the potential impact that migration from one community to another may have on population health data, in terms of our understanding of how place impacts health status. Looked at moves over one 5-year period, from 1995 to 2000, for selected urban and rural communities, with information on disability status and education. Considered geographic relocation for Black and White populations, between urban and rural areas, between high-poverty and low-poverty areas, and between North and South.

Changes in Areas With Concentrated Poverty: 2000 to 2010
Compares Census 2000 poverty estimates with those based on the 2008–2012 5-year American Community Survey (ACS), referred to throughout the report as the 2010 estimates. Includes data on poverty rates for nonmetropolitan, suburban, and central city metropolitan areas in Tables 2a and 2b and Figure 7. Reports that nonmetropolitan areas had the largest increase in the proportion of people living in poverty areas between 2000 and 2010. Goal Setting for Health Behavior Change: Evidence from an Obesity Intervention for Rural Low-Income Women
