Changes in Areas With Concentrated Poverty: 2000 to 2010
Compares Census 2000 poverty estimates with those based on the 2008–2012 5-year American Community Survey (ACS), referred to throughout the report as the 2010 estimates. Includes data on poverty rates for nonmetropolitan, suburban, and central city metropolitan areas in Tables 2a and 2b and Figure 7. Reports that nonmetropolitan areas had the largest increase in the proportion of people living in poverty areas between 2000 and 2010. Also includes county-level poverty maps for 2000 and 2010, Figures 5 and 6.
