Minnesota Crisis Standards of Care Framework: Surge Operations and Crisis Care for Emergency Medical Services
An overview of crisis care operational strategies for first responders, ambulance service providers, public safety answering points (PSAP)/9-1-1 dispatchers, and other crisis related healthcare facilities and organizations. Developed by a Minnesota EMS Crisis Standards of Care Workgroup to provide guidance for rural and urban communities in their development of crisis care policies and procedures. Discusses surge capacity, rural ambulance service dispatch and destination considerations, applicable Minnesota state statutes and ordinances, the importance of a formal review and quality assurance process, and recovery priorities for ambulance services.
